Steak, ribs, and pizza have been our specialty since 1976, but what we have admired more than our food are the people who have walked through our doors. We’re 46 years young and still learning and growing, while honouring our beginnings. We couldn’t be happier or more proud to still be a part of Edmonton’s culinary landscape.
Varvis Dinner Favourites
Peter / 7 oz New York
Peter would eat this every day if he could and some weeks he does, contrary to his doctor’s orders.
Helen / Double Lobster Tail
Our lobster tails are such a treat, don’t wait for a special occasion to enjoy them.
Dimitra / BBQ Beef Ribs
We’re one of the few restaurants in the city that offer beef ribs, which is all the more reason to try them.
Jackie / Beef Souvlaki
Call in advance to make sure this dish is available, because it usually sells out, especially at lunchtime.
Diana / Deluxe Cheeseburger
Hold the lettuce, tomato, and pickles, and you got her order. Those are all distractions anyway from the important ingredients.
Christopher / 10" Ham and Fresh Tomato Pizza
When Christopher isn't eating the 12 oz New York, he’s eating this pizza, because change is good.
Nick / 12 oz New York
We’re really not exaggerating when we say this one is on everyone’s favourites list.
Little Maria / 8" Cheese Pizza
Maria was barely two, yet the word “pizza” was already in her vocabulary and she knew what she liked.
Barbara / ½ Rack of BBQ Pork Back Ribs
The half rack is easy to commit to and leaves you room for all those tasty sides.
Maria / 8 oz Filet Mignon
Maria orders hers with extra sautéed mushrooms, because she somehow loses half of them before she even cuts into her steak.
Billy / Greek Salad
Sometimes Billy has it for breakfast more than he does for lunch or dinner and even calls it the Breakfast of Champions.
Bill / 12 oz New York
Not only the chef’s choice, but the crowd’s choice, too. Bill doesn’t usually eat steak, but when he does, he goes for the best.
Christina / Shrimp and Rib Combo
Shrimp, good. Ribs, good. Load your baked potato with butter, upgrade the garden salad to a Caesar, and you’re set.
Chriss / Coliseum Loaf
Not your ma’s meat loaf. Think of it as a step up from Subway. Actually, ten steps. Twenty? Let us know.
Evy / Chicken Fingers
Evy is never too full for chicken fingers and fries. She probably dreams about them at night along with cars shaped like whales.
“Coliseum Pizza & Steak still draws customers, proving that the old-school steak dinners, giant rib racks and big pizza pies were the real attractions for those who packed this place back then, and those who eat there now.”
— EDIFY, FORMERLY AVENUE MAGAZINE
“The steaks really were outstanding. Perfectly seasoned, flame-grilled and cooked exactly as ordered, this is what 40-plus years of practice produces.”
— EDMONTON JOURNAL
“At Coliseum, pizza is more than a food. It’s a symbol — of success, of something good that never changes, of a family business with deep roots in the community.”
— EDMONTON JOURNAL
